Position Description
ABOUT US:
PORCH Chapel Hill-Carrboro (PORCH CHC) is a volunteer-led, grassroots, hunger relief organization providing food security to families in need in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. PORCH is seeking a passionate Executive Director who is dedicated to our mission.
PORCH CHC collects food and cash donations through monthly neighborhood food drives and distributes food to thousands of at-risk individuals in our community. Since its founding in 2010, PORCH CHC has grown from collecting canned goods from a few neighbors to collecting food and cash donations monthly from over 125 local neighborhoods, delivering over $5 million in hunger relief over the past decade.
PORCH CHC runs three hunger relief programs: Food for Pantries provides nonperishable food to 13 local food pantries. Food for Schools provides healthy snacks to all 20 schools and three after-school programs in Chapel Hill and Carrboro. Food for Families provides an abundance of healthy, fresh food monthly to local families with children and is currently serving 525 food-insecure families with children in the public schools (approximately 2200 individuals, including 1250 children). Food for Families clients are 45% Latinx, 16% African American, and 31% refugees (542 refugees from Burma, 54 refugees from the Congo, and 65 refugees from Syria).
PORCH Chapel Hill-Carrboro recently developed a Strategic Plan, PORCH, A Place for Everyone, which sets the organization’s vision, mission, and goals for the next 3-5 years.
