As a volunteer, Princess Haile has seen PORCH’s work transform throughout the years, all the while supporting the organization in a truly huge array of volunteer roles–from setting up our swag tables and packing non-perishable bags to working every role in our market. When she’s not serving our community, Princess enjoys sitting down to a good book or a challenging Lego set.

Tell us about yourself!
I am originally from South Carolina and moved here about 5 years ago. I currently work as a mental health therapist and vocational counselor helping individuals with varying disabilities find work.
When did you start volunteering with PORCH and how did you hear about us?
I started volunteering with PORCH back in January 2023. I was looking for community volunteer opportunities online and found PORCH. I loved it so much from the first moment and have been here ever since.
What is your favorite part about volunteering with PORCH?
My favorite part about volunteering with PORCH is getting to know different people and knowing I am making an impact in my community.
Is there a role at PORCH that you’re an absolute pro at?
I am a pro at being a market runner and floating wherever I am needed within the market.
How does volunteering in general fit into your life?
I grew up with the reinforcement of service, through my parents and grandparents. So I’ve always made sure to make time for volunteering no matter how hectic life may get with work and just living life.
