July 2024: The Latest from PORCH

- We need your help! Summer is an especially hard time for hunger relief organizations – not only do we tend to receive less food donations, but it is also a time of extremely high need for kids and families! Please consider bringing a healthy non-perishable item (or two!) to the Carrboro July 4th celebration. With your support, we can help families worry less about grocery costs this summer!

- Our amazing volunteers help unload non-perishables, sort them, bag them, transport them, and more! They also are instrumental during our distributions, loading fresh items and non-perishables into our participants’ cars.Want to get involved? Reach out to sofia@porchcommunities.org.

- We are SO lucky to receive period products from Diaper Bank of North Carolina every month that go in our non-perishable food bags for families. Thank you to Diaper Bank and their Period Power Coordinator Mia for another month of supporting the families we serve!

- We love our school community! A huge thank you to the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Public School Foundation and all of our local schools + the Lincoln Center for hosting a food drive all summer long! Make sure to stop by your nearest school M-Th until July 30 to drop off healthy non-perishables for PORCH! Shout out to Ephesus Elementary, Morris Grove Elementary, Estes Hills Elementary, and the Lincoln Center for already donating 100 bags of non-perishables to PORCH since the beginning of the food drive!

- We were super lucky to have THREE generations of a family volunteering at our last distribution!

- We’re hiring! Learn about our Development and Administrative Coordinator position and our Food Pantry Market Manager position.
