Chapel Hill Wegmans Fill the Bus campaign benefits PORCH, June 5 through June 19!

PORCH Chapel Hill-Carrboro is thrilled to announce that we have been selected as a Wegmans Fill the Bus partner for summer, 2024!

For many local children, food insecurity worsens in the summer months while they are away from school-based nutrition programs like free/reduced lunches. This summer, Wegmans stores across the nation are partnering with organizations who tackle this increased food insecurity. Starting June 5, shoppers at the Chapel Hill Wegmans store will be able to support PORCH during this campaign!

How does the Fill the Bus campaign work? From June 5 through June 19, customers will be given the opportunity to donate $3, $5, or any amount at checkout, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to PORCH Chapel Hill-Carrboro.

With proceeds from this campaign, we will be able to continue to enroll new families in our Food for Families program. During our May, 2024 distribution, we provided healthy non-perishables, 20lbs of fresh produce, two dozen eggs, one gallon of milk, and a grocery gift card to 655 families with children in Chapel Hill Carrboro City Schools facing food insecurity. Each month the number of families seeking our services increases.
