Fundraisers

On Sunday, May 15 at 3 p.m., a concert will be held at Judea Reform Congregation in Durham to benefit PORCH Chapel Hill-Carrboro. Paul and Cora Harrison of Chapel Hill are organizing the fundraising event in memory of their daughter Julia, who passed away 20 years ago. To learn more about Julia, click here. The Harrisons are asking concert attendees and those who can’t attend to give what they can to PORCH to help fight food insecurity in our local community. Please donate online, via mailed check, or at the door.

Every dollar PORCH receives makes a meaningful difference in the mission to provide hundreds of Chapel Hill and Carrboro residents with fresh and non-perishable food. $5 provides milk and eggs to one family; $25 provides chicken, milk, and eggs for two families; $50 provides 10 days’-worth of fresh food to one family; $300 sponsors a family for six months; and $600 sponsors a family for a year. In 2021, PORCH Chapel Hill-Carrboro provided $823,000 in hunger relief to the community.

The concert’s musical director is Allan Friedman of Judea Reform Congregation. The program will include instrumental and vocal music by local artists including SONAM.

If you plan to attend the concert, please fill out this form so we know how many people to expect. Judea Reform Congregation is located at 1933 West Cornwallis Road in Durham. Donate to PORCH here – please put “Julia Harrison” into the note field. You can also mail a check payable to PORCH Chapel Hill-Carrboro to P.O. Box 16363, Chapel Hill, NC 27516-6363.
